The LORDS Way: I can be Curious
Curiosity is one of the great gifts God has given us. It opens our eyes to wonder, helps us ask questions that matter, and draws us into a deeper understanding of the world and the people around us. At LORDS, when we say “I can be curious”, we are not just thinking about exploring ideas in the classroom; we are also thinking about how curiosity helps us to grow in relationships, service, and faith.
Through service-learning, curiosity means taking the time to be truly present with others. When we sit and listen with open hearts, we discover stories that help us see people not through labels or stereotypes, but through the dignity God has given them. It is not about solving or fixing, it is about being willing to ask, “What is your story?” and to hold that story gently.Jesus himself lived with deep curiosity and presence. He noticed what others overlooked. He asked questions. He invited people to share who they were. He showed us that curiosity is not just about gaining knowledge but about engaging in connection and compassion.
As we continue to walk the LORDS Way, may our curiosity lead us not only to learn but also to listen, to honour stories, and to see Christ in one another.
James 1:19 reminds us-
“Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry.”
Prayer
Loving God,
Thank you for the gift of curiosity, the spark that helps us wonder, learn, and grow. Teach us to be curious in ways that honour others, to listen well, and to hold their stories with care. Help us to follow Jesus’ example of presence and compassion in all we do.
Amen.
