It’s about doing our part, following through on commitments, and caring for what we’ve been given.

At LORDS, we learn that responsibility is not just about ourselves, it’s about how we live in community and honour God through our actions.

The Bible reminds us:

In small things and big things, God calls us to be trustworthy and responsible. Whether it’s finishing our work well, looking after our belongings, or showing kindness in our words, responsibility is how we show love and respect in everyday life.

Let’s keep encouraging one another to be dependable, to follow through, and to care deeply because when we each do our part, we create a stronger, kinder, and more faithful community.

As we move towards the end of the term, we want to take a moment to sincerely thank all our LORDS families for your ongoing support, encouragement, and partnership. Together, we’ve shared in a term filled with rich learning experiences, community events, and moments of growth for our students.

From engaging classroom projects to camps, excursions, performances, service opportunities, and sporting and cultural achievements, our students have embraced learning in all its forms. These experiences are not just about knowledge, but about developing character, curiosity, and confidence.

We’d like to remind families that learning and assessment continue right up until the final day of term. Every day matters, and each moment contributes to our students’ growth and sense of belonging. As we head to towards the mid-year holidays, LORDS is already planning for staffing, resources, and Year level structures for 2026.

Year 9's Night at the Museum – A Commemoration of History and Celebration of Student Voice

This week, our Year 9 students brought history to life at our much-anticipated Night at the Museum event. The evening was a vibrant celebration of student learning, showcasing inquiry, creativity, and story as our young historians transformed their research into engaging World War I exhibits for LORDS and the wider North Gold Coast RSL community.

Visitors had the chance to interact with student-curated artefacts, models, digital presentations, and interactive displays. Hors d'oeuvres were provided by our wonderful catering team to keep everyone fed in style.

The night was also an opportunity for students to develop real-world communication skills, as they engaged in meaningful discussions with the community, families, peers, and staff. Many attendees commented on the depth of knowledge and the pride with which students shared their learning, and the overall quality of displays.

We would like to thank all staff who supported the event behind the scenes and, most importantly, the families who attended and encouraged our students with their thoughtful questions and warm presence.

It was a night to remember—and one that reflected the power of authentic, student-led learning and community engagement.

Our amazing Year 11 Hospitality students treated the staff at LORDS to a beautiful High Tea — prepared, cooked, and served with skill and care. 

From perfectly brewed tea to homemade treats and warm hospitality, it was a delicious display of their talent, teamwork, and attention to detail. The First Nations inspiration also worked so well as part of National Reconciliation Week.

A big thank you to these inspiring students and their teaching staff of Carla Armstrong, Belinda Ingram, and Riette Nel for reminding us just how special it is to be part of the LORDS community.

Recently, we marked a special milestone for our Year 12 students at LORDS — just 100 days until graduation! 
To celebrate, there was cake, games, laughter, and a whole lot of memories in the making. 

Our seniors took a well-earned moment to enjoy each other’s company and reflect on how far they’ve come — and the exciting road ahead.

Year 10 Business class attended the Young Entrepreneurs Seminar (YES) at Logan, where they heard inspiring stories from local entrepreneurs.

Among the speakers, the highlight was Jason Daniel, the founder and CEO of LSKD (Loose Kid). He shared his journey, explaining that he initially tried several trades and worked for just $7 an hour, determined to find his true passion. His love for motorbikes sparked the idea for his clothing brand, which he turned into a successful business.

Today, LSKD has grown beyond Australia and is now available in stores across New Zealand and the USA, demonstrating how perseverance and passion can lead to global success.

World Scholar’s Cup is an experience! 

It is a celebration of learning covering many topics. Teams work together and individually to achieve their points.

They cover global issues but have lots of fun along the way, being involved in team debates, collaborative writing, an individual scholar’s challenge, and a team challenge.

It was a lot of fun and hard work, and Ella, Mia, and Tristan should be very proud of their efforts! They have now earned a position in a Global Round! Well done team!

Twin Falls Hike, Springbrook National Park

Despite a few sketchy patches of weather, our Year 10 students showed true LORDS spirit on their Cohort Day adventure to Springbrook National Park! Taking on the Twin Falls Circuit, students embraced the challenge with positive attitudes, stepping out of their comfort zones and into the beauty of the rainforest trails.

Some students chose to take part in a Nature Scavenger Hunt, tuning into the sights and sounds of the landscape, while others simply enjoyed the fresh air, stunning scenery, and the opportunity to connect with friends in a truly breathtaking setting.

We feel incredibly blessed to have shared this time, not just with one another but also with God’s beautiful creation. What a wonderful way to grow as a cohort, connect, and make memories together.

What a wonderful few weeks it has been in the Junior School! Our calendar has been full of exciting events and opportunities that have truly highlighted the joy of learning and the strength of our community.

The Pirates and Princesses sports afternoon was a fantastic success for our Prep to Year 2 students. The oval came alive with colour, laughter, and plenty of fun as students took part in a range of engaging physical activities. It was a delight to see our littlest learners working together, cheering each other on, and embracing the spirit of play with such enthusiasm and imagination.

Also, this past week, students from Years 3 to 6 took part in our annual Junior School Spelling Bee. It was great to see so many students giving it a go and demonstrating confidence under pressure. It was really encouraging to see and hear the student audience showing encouragement and support in such a positive way. Congratulations to all the students who took part. We look forward to seeing where your learning takes you next.

A special congratulations go to our Prep to Year 2 teachers and students for their Learning Showcase. Through their project-based learning this semester, students explored rich, meaningful topics and shared their discoveries with pride. It was a joy to welcome so many families into classrooms and to witness the deep engagement between students, teachers, and parents. Thank you to all who came along, it means so much to our students to see their work recognised and celebrated by the wider community.

As we approach the final week of term, a reminder that school holidays will begin at the end of next week. While our students head off for a well-earned break, our staff will be participating in professional learning days before enjoying some rest and renewal themselves.

We wish all our families a safe, happy, and refreshing holiday. May it be a time to relax, recharge, and enjoy special moments together. We look forward to seeing everyone back for another fantastic term of learning and growth in Term 3.

On Friday 6th June, our annual Junior School Spelling Bee took place. Students from Years 3 to 6 participated either as contestants or audience members. Our spellers showcased their skills as they tackled some challenging words, while their peers provided wonderful encouragement and support throughout the event.

Our brave spellers took to the stage and impressed us all with their focus, determination, and incredible spelling skills as they tackled some very tricky words. It was wonderful to see how classmates cheered on their peers and celebrated the tremendous effort of our participants.

A huge round of applause to all involved—you demonstrated remarkable courage, confidence, and commitment.

Our Prep to Year 2 Showcase of Learning on Tuesday 10th June, was a wonderful celebration sharing learning and growth from Semester 1 with family and friends. They shared insights into how bees might be attracted to our environment, explorations of "then and now" through Living Historians, and ways to be more sustainable at LORDS.

Police Visit Brings Civics to Life

As part of our Civics unit on rules and laws, Year 4 was visited by two local police officers who answered student-developed questions and shared what it’s like to serve our community.

Students learned about police officers' responsibilities, how laws impact our lives, and the importance of working together to create a safe society. A big thank you to our local police for such an inspiring visit!

Big Buddies & Little Wonders!

Our Year 10 students enjoyed a special visit with our Lords Little Wonders Kindergarten friends as part of the school’s Buddy Program. The time spent in the Kindy’s wonderful outdoor play space was filled with laughter and connection. Our Year 10s embraced their roles as mentors, but it was clear that both big and little buddies gained something special from this time of connection—new friends and shared joy.

For many of our Year 10 students, it was a trip down memory lane — having once been LORDS Little Wonders Kindy kids themselves. It was lovely to see them return, now as mentors, sharing stories and making new memories with the next generation of learners.

These moments of cross-campus connections beautifully reflect the strong sense of community and care that defines our Lutheran learning journey from the very start.

LORDS Little Wonders Kindergarten is currently at capacity for 2025, and the Applications for 2026 are now closed at full capacity.

Our Year 6 and 7 Buddies enjoyed their second meet-up last week, discussing the important topic of locker organisation.

Having a locker of your own is an exciting highlight of transitioning into high school, and the Year 6 students listened eagerly to the experiences and wisdom of the Year 7 students about their locker setup.

Some of the questions asked and answered were:
- Where do you put your laptop?
- How do you organise your books?
- Can you put a copy of your timetable in your locker?
- What happens if you forget your combination or key?

Next Wednesday 18th June, LORDS students are invited to dress in their chosen State of Origin Team Colours and bring in a gold coin donation. This is for the whole school, Kindergarten to Year 12.

Our Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 students transformed into swashbuckling pirates and elegant princesses for a fun-filled afternoon of games and activities at our Princesses and Pirates Field Day.

The excitement began after lunch, with students changing into their colourful costumes, ready to embrace their favourite pirate or princess persona. A big thank you to all families for helping bring the magic to life with such wonderful outfits—our school was buzzing with creativity and colour!

From 1:30pm to 2:45pm, our young adventurers took part in a variety of themed games, including obstacle courses, relay races, and teamwork challenges—all designed to encourage physical activity, cooperation, and plenty of laughter.

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible Year 12 Sport and Recreation students, who ran the event as part of their assessment. Their energy, leadership and organisation helped make the afternoon a resounding success. We also extend our thanks to the Year 6 students and our dedicated teachers, whose support was instrumental in keeping everything running smoothly.

It was a fantastic afternoon filled with joy, imagination, and community spirit. Well done to everyone involved!

This week, our Senior School Athletics Club, joined by some of our talented LEAP athletes (LORDS Emerging Athletes Program) from the Junior School, wrapped up our first-ever 6-week athletics coaching program!

A huge thank you to Little Athletics QLD, especially Coach Sophie, for partnering with us to pilot this exciting program- a first for LAQ too. Over six weeks, students developed their technique across key track and field events, finishing with a mini meet at the Gold Coast Performance Centre.
We’re excited to build on this next year!

Kokoda Success at LORDS!

On Saturday, the 7th June, LORDS had 15 teams participate in the Brisbane Kokoda Challenge. We had 10 teams take on the 18km event, 4 take on the 30km, and 1 take on the 48km event! The 15 leaders, who were all staff and ex-student volunteers from LORDS, and the 49 incredible students, all made it across the finish line, which is an amazing effort. Our top fundraising student Scarlett M raised $3,075.08, and the total fundraised amount was $17,146, which is an amount that continues to rise as we approach our Gold Coast event on the 19th-20th July. Congratulations to everyone who participated. It was an incredibly enjoyable and successful event!

Steven Days (Co-curricular Arts Coordinator at LORDS) has a strong background in performance music, having worked in pub and club bands as well as orchestras for Musical Theatre productions. His passion for the theatre has also seen him tread the boards as an actor in many community theatre productions with local companies.

Steven received a Bachelor of Music degree majoring in composition and minoring in conducting from Canterbury University in New Zealand. As part of his professional development as a teacher has completed a Master of Education in the Arts at the Australian Catholic University, here in Brisbane.

Currently, Steven is working with two of LORDS' instrumental tutors, Melinda Coles and Rowan Bowyer, on an upcoming production of the internationally acclaimed “Come From Away”. School Office

Our office hours are between 8.00am – 4.00pm, Monday to Friday with the exception of Public Holidays.

Tuckshop

Our Tuckshop on Wheels operates for morning tea and lunch on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Orders are to be placed online via Flexischools prior to 8.15 am each day. Students from Years 7 - 12 and staff may purchase over the counter with cash or eftpos at break times. We do not allow Junior School students to purchase items over the counter. All Junior School orders must be placed using Flexischools.

Reminder: No Nuts or Nut Products at School

A reminder to all families that our school is a nut-free environment to protect students with severe anaphylactic allergies. We ask that no nuts or nut-based products (including items like Nutella or peanut butter) be brought to school in lunchboxes, snacks, or for sharing during special events.

This applies to all year levels from Kindergarten to Year 12, and includes all school events, excursions, and activities.

Please note that while we aim to be nut-free, some pre-packaged items may contain traces of nuts as stated by manufacturers. We encourage parents to check labels carefully and choose safe alternatives.
