DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT
Remembrance Day Devotion – “God Remembers”
On Remembrance Day, we pause as a nation to reflect on stories, stories of courage, sacrifice, service, and love. Each year, as the bugle sounds and we stand in silence, we remember not just the events of history, but the people behind them. Sons and daughters, mothers and fathers, friends and neighbours each with a story worth remembering. At LORDS, we are a community shaped by story, the stories of those who came before us, and the stories we are writing today. Remembrance Day reminds us how important it is to remember not just facts and dates, but the human hearts behind them. When we remember, we keep hope alive.
The Bible is also a story of remembrance and hope. Throughout Scripture, God remembers His people in joy and in suffering. When the world feels uncertain or heavy, we can take comfort in knowing that even when we forget or falter, God never forgets us.
“I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands.”
Isaiah 49:15–16
This is our hope that we are always held in God’s memory and grace. On this Remembrance Day, may we honour the stories of those who served and sacrificed, and may we also find strength in knowing that our stories matter to God. He remembers, He restores, and He gives us hope for the days ahead.
Prayer
Loving God,
We thank You for those who have served and sacrificed for the cause of peace and freedom.
Help us to remember their stories with gratitude and hope.
Thank You for always remembering us for holding us in Your love and faithfulness.
May we be people who bring peace and hope to others, as You have done for us.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
