Remembrance Day Devotion – “God Remembers”

On Remembrance Day, we pause as a nation to reflect on stories, stories of courage, sacrifice, service, and love. Each year, as the bugle sounds and we stand in silence, we remember not just the events of history, but the people behind them. Sons and daughters, mothers and fathers, friends and neighbours each with a story worth remembering.

At LORDS, we are a community shaped by story, the stories of those who came before us, and the stories we are writing today. Remembrance Day reminds us how important it is to remember not just facts and dates, but the human hearts behind them. When we remember, we keep hope alive.

The Bible is also a story of remembrance and hope. Throughout Scripture, God remembers His people in joy and in suffering. When the world feels uncertain or heavy, we can take comfort in knowing that even when we forget or falter, God never forgets us.

“I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands.”
Isaiah 49:15–16

This is our hope that we are always held in God’s memory and grace. On this Remembrance Day, may we honour the stories of those who served and sacrificed, and may we also find strength in knowing that our stories matter to God. He remembers, He restores, and He gives us hope for the days ahead.

As we reach the end of another school year, our hearts are full of gratitude and pride as we celebrate our graduating Class of 2025, who will finish their school journey next week.

Each member of this class has walked a unique journey, discovering their gifts, passions, and purpose. Together, they have learned what it means to live The LORDS Way. We give thanks for the ways they have contributed to our school community, leading with courage and commitment.

To our parents and families, thank you for your trust, encouragement, and support throughout the years. To our dedicated staff, thank you for your wisdom, care, and faithfulness in guiding our students to become lifelong learners and compassionate contributors.

As our young people take their next steps, may they continue to follow God’s calling, discovering their vocation, using their gifts to serve others, and walking with confidence into the future He has prepared for them.

Leave Requests

Families are reminded that requests for leave need to be in writing to both your class teacher and Mrs Bruyn rebekah.bruyn@lords.qld.edu.au (P-6) and Mrs Kinne selina.kinne@lords.qld.edu.au  (Year 7-12). We strongly encourage you to talk through your request for leave with the school before you go ahead and book or plan any activities.

There are certain times of the term that are not ideal for leave regarding the learning and teaching process. We understand that certain family circumstances may require leave (eg compassionate leave) and are understanding of these requests and will support families in these situations.

End of Term Dates
Year 12 students finish on Wednesday, 19th November.

P-11 students finish on Friday, 5th December.

Parents are reminded that students are to attend school until the final day of school, as learning, exams, assessments, and end-of-year celebrations will occur until the final day.

The tradition continues at LORDS as more members of the Class of 2025 ring the bell to mark the end of their final assessments! Each chime is a proud moment, and was made even more special with our Prep students joining in to cheer on the seniors.

What a beautiful example of our LORDS community supporting one another — from the youngest learners to those finishing their school journey. The excitement and encouragement were contagious!

Year 7 2026 Parent Meet and Greet: Building Connections and Community

Last Tuesday, we welcomed the parents of our incoming Year 7 students for 2026 to a special Parent Meet and Greet evening. The event was designed to provide families with valuable insights into the exciting journey ahead while creating opportunities to connect with one another.

The evening was filled with energy and laughter, thanks to a lively Trivia Quiz hosted by our Director of Wellbeing, Lauren Krenske, who stepped into the role of Quiz Master with enthusiasm. Parents teamed up to tackle fun questions and learn interesting snippets about what Year 7 will look like in 2026.

Parents had the chance to meet the dedicated Senior Leaders of the Secondary School and the Pastoral Team for Year 7 in 2026, who will play a vital role in supporting students as they transition into Secondary School. These introductions helped families put faces to names and begin building relationships that will strengthen our school community and their connection with each other.

The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with plenty of conversation and laughter as parents connected over shared experiences and anticipation for the year ahead. We are thrilled to see such strong engagement and look forward to partnering with families to ensure a smooth and successful start for our Year 7 students in 2026. Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to making the evening such a success. We can’t wait to continue this journey together!

As the final event for Year 12 Hospitality, students prepare dinner for their parents as a thank you and to showcase what they have learned in their time in the kitchen here at LORDS.

Students worked hard during the day, preparing a Mediterranean degustation, incorporating flavours from Turkey, Italy, France, and more. The service showed all they had learned in their Formal Dining unit and skills from the Cert II Hospitality, with students providing restaurant-quality food and customer service.

Thanks to Mrs Armstrong, Mrs Nell, Mrs Sadler, and Mrs Macdonald for working with these students and supporting them in delivering a truly magical event. Well done Year 12 Hospitality – we are so proud of you!

What a jam-packed one-night getaway! Our Year 11 students enjoyed good weather, great company, and plenty of laughs as they came together at Camp Kindilan to connect before their final year begins.

From canoeing and the flying fox to campfire chats and late-night games, our time was filled with fun, friendship, and a real sense of building community.

Here’s to a bright year ahead, full of purpose, connection, and more special memories.

Our Future Millionaires from Year 8/9 took centre stage yesterday as they stepped into the Shark Tank to pitch their big ideas! This project was the culmination of their entrepreneurship unit, where students learnt how to identify problems in society, develop innovative solutions, and turn them into sustainable business plans.

In front of a panel of ‘sharks’ — made up of teachers, parents, and local business leaders — students showcased their creativity, business savvy, and passion for positive change.

Their pitches tackled real-world issues and explored solutions across technology, sustainability, education, fashion, food security, and community wellbeing. Many focused on social enterprises, showing how business can drive meaningful impact as well as profit. From apps and services to creative products and local ventures, our budding entrepreneurs impressed everyone with their innovation, confidence, and purpose-driven thinking.

A huge congratulations to business teacher Mr de Goede and all our Future Millionaires for their imagination, professionalism, and commitment to creating a better world.

Diploma of Business Graduates

We are so proud of Year 11 students, Ryan, Tristan, and Hayley, who have successfully completed their Diploma of Business this year through our partnership with Strategix QLD.

This is a nationally recognised qualification, and an incredible achievement while still at school. Completing the Diploma not only demonstrates dedication and initiative but also provides students with a selection rank that may be used for university entry, a fantastic head start on their future studies and careers. Congratulations.

What a special fortnight it has been in the Junior School!

Our community gathered for LORDS Celebrates, a wonderful afternoon recognising the achievements, effort, and growth of our students throughout the year. It was a true celebration of learning and accomplishment, with awards presented across a range of areas acknowledging our students’ commitment to the LORDS Ways. The afternoon was made even more memorable by beautiful performances from our Junior Choir and Bronze Strings, who showcased their musical talents with confidence and joy.

LORDS Celebrates also provided us with a heartfelt opportunity to farewell our Principal, Ms Hoff. Students, staff, and families joined together to express our gratitude for her leadership, care, and the lasting impact she has had on our school community.

Our Prep students also had an exciting adventure to David Fleay Wildlife Park, where they discovered more about Australia’s unique animals. The children loved spotting kangaroos, crocodiles, and koalas, and learning about ways to help protect native wildlife. It was a day filled with curiosity, teamwork, and plenty of smiles.

In addition, we were delighted to welcome our 2026 Prep students and their families for their recent orientation visits. These sessions are such a valuable time for our newest learners to meet their teachers, explore their classrooms, and begin building connections with one another. The excitement and enthusiasm were wonderful to see, and we look forward to welcoming these children into the LORDS community next year.

With only three weeks left in the term, we look forward to finishing the year strong, celebrating all that our students have achieved, and continuing to support them in making the most of every learning opportunity.

Over the past 4 months, the Year 3 students have been engaging in a Project-Based Learning unit about homelessness. We have been learning about different organisations and how they help people experiencing homelessness.

On 17th October, the Year 3 students gave up their comfy beds to sleep over at school, experiencing what it might be like to sleep without the comforts of home. To begin the evening, we had a visit from two volunteers from Vinnies QLD to learn more about their organisation and to participate in activities to experience what it could be like for a person who is homeless.

Here are some quotes from our Year 3 students:

“I learned that homeless people have a rough time sleeping coz it took me a long, long time to get to sleep.”

"I really enjoyed eating the food coz it was so yummy".

“I enjoyed the fun activities that the ladies from St Vinnie’s had for us to do, particularly the one with Lego.”

“I found it interesting to learn how much losing your job affects being homeless.”

“I found it hard sleeping coz of the snoring".

LORDS U10's Crowned Australasian Futsal Schools Champions!

The Australasian Futsal Schools Champions of Champions tournament was held last week over three exciting days, with a record 117 teams competing — including international teams from the Solomon Islands. This prestigious, invitation-only event brings together the very best school futsal teams from across the country, all of whom had earned their place through earlier regional championships.

Our very own LORDS U10s team was honoured to receive an invitation to compete among Australia’s elite. In the U10 division, eight of the best teams were split across two groups — and right from the start, it was clear that the competition would be fierce.

After a tough opening day, our boys found themselves at the bottom of the group table, having lost all three of their matches. While the scoreline didn’t go our way, the team quickly realised that the real challenge wasn’t just the opposition. They rediscovered the intensity, teamwork, and belief that had earned them this invitation in the first place.

Day 2: The Turning Point

Facing a knockout quarter-final against the top-ranked team from the other group, and our local neighbours, St Andrews. It was truly do or go home time.

After some honest discussions between players and coaches, the team made key adjustments and, most importantly, came together as one. From the first whistle,  LORDS showed their fighting spirit, taking an early 3–0 lead. St Andrews fought back with two late first-half goals, but in a stunning second-half display, our boys netted six more unanswered goals to claim an emphatic 9–3 victory.

This was the moment everything changed - belief was back, teamwork was front and centre, and the Lords U10s were on a mission.

Semi-Final Showdown

Next up was Somerset College, one of the toughest teams in the competition. Falling behind 2–0 early, it would’ve been easy for heads to drop, but not this time. The boys showed incredible resilience and determination, fighting their way back to a thrilling 6–5 win and booking their place in the grand final!

The Grand Final: A Champion Performance

The final saw LORDS face St Matthew's from Canberra. With 40 minutes standing between them and the championship, the boys were focused, composed, and ready. Leading 1–0 at halftime,  LORDS lifted their performance to another level, scoring five more unanswered goals in the second half.

When the final whistle blew, the scoreboard read 6–1, crowning Lords as the Australasian Futsal Schools Champions of Champions!

A Tournament to Remember

From a rocky start to an unforgettable finish, this journey was about much more than futsal. It was about belief, teamwork, and perseverance.

A special thank you goes out to all the staff who supported these players throughout their journey, including Mr. and Mrs. Steinhardt, who have worked tirelessly over the years to grow futsal at LORDS, and Mr. Giannini, for his ongoing behind-the-scenes support of the team.

This victory is a truly amazing reward for a LORDS futsal program that continues to punch above its weight. Winning such a massive tournament would not have been possible without the dedication of our parents, coaches, and the entire LORDS Futsal community.

Meet the Champions

Hudson – selected as an All-Star MVP for his age group.

Harry – adaptable, fire in the belly, and stepped up when the team needed a leader; truly an MVP performance across the 3 days, playing out of position as a defender.

Austin – defensive rock, super goal-assister, and inspirational performances.

Charlie – menace on the field that oppositions didn’t know how to handle, a goal-scoring machine.

Noah – creative flair and world-class goals, including a header.

Duke – answered in spades when needed and did the job that was asked of him.

Mitchell – brought renewed energy to the frontline and played with high intensity throughout.

William – when the team needed to defend to keep the game in check, he answered every time.

Congratulations to our U10s — you have made us all incredibly proud! 

The Moreton Bay Tournament

The LORDS Rugby 7s program stepped up a notch at the growing Moreton Bay Rugby 7s Tournament, producing a mix of results and plenty of exciting rugby. It was a thrilling day of action, and the LORDS teams were excellent ambassadors both on and off the field.

U14 Girls
While the girls faced some strong opposition, they showed tremendous spirit and determination. Despite the challenges, they never gave up and kept their heads high throughout the match. Savannah, Laylah C, and Cara O were true warriors.

U16 Boys – LORDS & Pimpama State School (Combined Team)
After an uncertain start and a first-game loss as the boys adjusted to playing together, the team found its rhythm. They went on to win their next three matches impressively. 
LORDS standout players were Jon T, Rico L, and Reuben A! Zach O, Mack H, and Nate G didn’t stand back either.
Congratulations to all players on a strong showing and great teamwork!

Our U14 Boys team was outstanding, remaining undefeated throughout the tournament. They played an exciting brand of rugby — scoring plenty of tries, showing sharp improvement in game awareness, and demonstrating excellent teamwork and skill.

2025 SEASON REVIEW

The 2025 Rugby 7s season was one to remember for LORDS — a year of growth, determination, and impressive performances across all teams.

What began as a single U14 Boys team has grown into a thriving program, now fielding U16 Boys, U14 Boys, and U14 Girls. LORDS faced strong competition from Miami State School, Pimpama SSC, Groves Christian College, and Hymba Yumba Independent School, as well as proudly representing the school at the Moreton Bay Emerging Rugby 7s Tournament this week.

The U14 Boys enjoyed a standout campaign, losing just one of nine games - a testament to their teamwork, discipline, and exciting style of play.

And finally, thank you to all the parents and caregivers for your support. Your partnership has helped make the 2025 Rugby 7s season a real success.

Last week saw the running of the Secondary School Interhouse Mixed Netball Competition, with round matches played each lunchtime across the Year 7–8 and Year 9–11 divisions. Results from these games determined the finalists who faced off on Thursday.

In the Year 7–8 division, Logan defeated Albert 11–3 to claim the title.

In the Year 9–11 division, all three Houses had strong campaigns, with Logan continuing their dominance to overcome Pimpama in the final 13-5, ultimately taking out the double this year.

Well done to all students who competed with great spirit, pride, and enthusiasm, and to those who umpired - gaining valuable experience towards their accreditation. Thanks also to Alanna, our Netball Coordinator, for making this event happen.

Looking ahead to 2026, a full Interhouse Sports Program is planned:
• Futsal – Term 1
• Basketball or Touch – Term 2
• Volleyball – Term 3
• Netball – Term 4

These events will contribute to the House Shield, with 50 points for a win, 20 for a loss, and 150–100–50 for overall placings.

Keep an eye on Student Café for sign-ups and get involved — if not every term, at least once each semester. And when you’re not competing, you can still bring the energy from the sidelines!

Let’s bring the Houses alive in 2026!

Over the weekend, 11 students represented LORDS at a Handball Competition held at the Carrara Indoor Stadium. The idea to take part came from Ethan in Year 6, who took the initiative to find out about the event and promote it among his peers. Well done, Ethan, for your leadership and enthusiasm in getting so many students involved on their weekend!

The competition featured 78 competitors from eight different schools, with LORDS finishing an impressive 4th overall.

As one of the few sports without referees or umpires, the event placed strong emphasis on healthy communication, fair play, and good sportsmanship. The organisers also highlighted the importance of resilience — an essential skill both on and off the court.

This term, our Year 11 Sport and Recreation students have been diving into their Bronze Medallion training, demonstrating incredible courage, resilience, and CPR proficiency, along with other vital lifesaving skills. On Thursday last week, they completed their practical component of the course

11 students are proudly on track to achieve their full Bronze Medallion, an internationally recognised qualification in water safety and rescue excellence.

2 students earned their Bronze Star, demonstrating outstanding determination and growth along the way.

We’re so proud of their effort, achievement, and commitment to keeping our communities safe in and around the water!

Kokoda 2026 Registration is now open!

We’re excited to announce that preparations for next year’s Kokoda Challenge are officially underway! Students who are interested in taking part are invited to complete the Kokoda Registration Form before the end of Term 4.

Please note that teams will be drafted over the Christmas break, so it’s important that registrations are submitted by the deadline.

Tuckshop

Our Tuckshop on Wheels operates for morning tea and lunch on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Orders are to be placed online via Flexischools prior to 8.15 am each day. Students from Years 7 - 12 and staff may purchase over the counter with cash or eftpos at break times. We do not allow Junior School students to purchase items over the counter. All Junior School orders must be placed using Flexischools.

Reminder: No Nuts or Nut Products at School

A reminder to all families that our school is a nut-free environment to protect students with severe anaphylactic allergies. We ask that no nuts or nut-based products (including items like Nutella or peanut butter) be brought to school in lunchboxes, snacks, or for sharing during special events.

This applies to all year levels from Kindergarten to Year 12, and includes all school events, excursions, and activities.

Please note that while we aim to be nut-free, some pre-packaged items may contain traces of nuts as stated by manufacturers. We encourage parents to check labels carefully and choose safe alternatives.
