DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast.”
Ephesians 2:8–9
This Saturday, 31st October, we recognise Reformation Day, an important occasion in the life of the Lutheran Church and our school.
More than 500 years ago, Martin Luther challenged the Church to return to the central message of the Gospel: that we are saved by God's grace, through faith in Jesus Christ. Our salvation is a gift, freely given through God's love, rather than something we can earn through our own efforts.
This understanding remains at the heart of Lutheran education. Every person is valued and loved by God, regardless of their achievements, circumstances, or background. It calls us to be inclusive, to recognise the dignity of others and to extend the same grace that we have received. Luther also emphasised that while good works do not earn our salvation, faith naturally expresses itself through love and service to others.
At LORDS, we see this through our commitment to service learning and the many opportunities our young people have to care for others. We encourage them to recognise God's love in their own lives and then share that love through their actions.
As we recognise Reformation Day, may we be reminded that God's grace is the foundation of our faith and that our response is to live with gratitude, allowing our faith to be active in love.
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gift of Your grace and the salvation we receive through faith in Jesus Christ. Help us to recognise Your love in our lives and share it freely with others. Guide our LORDS community to live with gratitude, extending grace and serving those around us. Amen.

- This LORDS Voice, we will be praying for families in our community and their needs: Cole-Walia, Collard, Connors, Conroy, Cooke, Coombs.
- We give thanks for the gift of education and for the staff who serve our LORDS community. Bless them in their vocation and strengthen the partnership between families and educators as we nurture our young people.
- As we recognise Reformation Day, we thank You for the gift of salvation through grace and faith in Jesus Christ. Help us to live out our faith through love and service, extending Your grace to those around us.
