DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT
This weekend we celebrate Father’s Day, a time to give thanks for fathers, grandfathers, and significant men in our lives who have loved, guided, and supported us.
At LORDS, our Way of Being gives us a framework for the kind of people we hope our young people become. Three of these connect beautifully to Father’s Day:
I can be of service.
So often, fathers and father figures show service in quiet, everyday ways. Service isn’t always grand; it’s often the small, steady acts of love that make the biggest difference.
I can be empathetic.
The best dads and mentors are those who take the time to listen, to understand, and to see the world through their children’s eyes. Empathy helps relationships grow deeper and gives children the confidence to be themselves.
I can be responsible.
Fatherhood, in all its forms, carries responsibility, the responsibility of being present, of guiding wisely, and of modelling what integrity and love look like in action.
As we celebrate Father’s Day, we give thanks for all who show service, empathy, and responsibility in our lives. Their example shapes us into people who can do the same for others.
Prayer
Loving God,
We give You thanks for fathers, grandfathers, and father figures who bless our lives through their service, their empathy, and their responsibility. Strengthen them in their roles, and surround those who find Father’s Day difficult with Your comfort and peace. May all our families know the depth of Your love, and may we continue to grow as people who serve, care, and take responsibility in Your world.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
